Any suggestion on good books about History of the Caribbean Islands? Good Pirates books?

How about Caribbean by James Michner? It's a historical novel that does a pretty good job, just like all of Michner's books.

Each country and island seems to have it's own local historian who has published a small book about the island. You will find them in local bookstores.
