unless it's the latest post in the thread?
Hmmm. somewhat awkward.

You can quote any earlier post to tie it together what you're saying, but that's as close as it gets, Braden.

Nope, you can actually quote the relevant portion of a specific message by clicking the quote button

Hmmmm.... so how does a person follow the subthread when it gets long? Trying to connect a string of responses to a particular sub-response? Seems like a pain to me.

I use this type board on a stock board I go to. In some ways it's very nice, for if you ARE interested in what's being said, you just read through the posts and no clicking except to change pages. I don't know what these guys have their page limit set at, but on ProBoards, depending on the length of the post it can be 14 or so posts per page. I have read through threads three pages long in just a few minutes.
Except for being able to scan for new posts, it really is quicker than the threaded model. Especially since those last few months, CW's board had gotten beastly slow. With this vers., if you are following a thread and there's new posts, you just go to the last page and pick up where you left off.
I like the threaded model too, but after six months of using this format on ProBoards, I have no problems using it, either. I do especially like the ability to edit your posts after the fact, in case you missed a point.
edit: I understand the fear of change, the longing for that style, etc. But, the reality is, since they have no choice and no escape valve, the folks on the ProBoards I visit have developed a sense of community as well. There is banter back and forth, jokes, etc. The one thing they do have is a very active cadre of "user / moderators." Folks who regularly use the board and have gotten enough respect from the "crew" get moderator status and they help keep things on topic and active. They have the ability to "pin" threads and keep them on top or to delete, or edit posts or entire threads. It all works very well.
On topic may be something as silly as "the thread about nothing," now over 400 pages long.
But then, it will never happen if folks are too stubborn, too set in their ways and too rigid to accept change. The whole thing really is very childish. But then, that's what I've come to expect from this board these last few years and why I hardly ever posted lately.
Braden.....You can go to the new threaded (just like the old CWBB) Crusing Sailors BB at
