C'mon folks, let's hear it. Why are you hanging around this BB instead of sailing?

As for me, my Mistral is done and was supposed to splash yesterday. We unloaded the powerboat, emptied the water tanks, and pumped out the head. The Mistral never showed. It seems that when the boat hauler arrived at Scarano's Boat Works, the Mistral was in a place that the hauler couldn't get to it. Scarano offered to move it, but the hauler was on a tight schedule and left.

~sigh~

So now I don't splash until Monday. Since the powerboat is prepped to be hauled, we're not using that. Beside, the weather today isn't good in upstate NY, so today is just a lazy day, playing on the computer and playing my new Guild guitar.

As a side note, did you ever wonder how you get on some mailing lists? I've been getting a complimentary subscription to Showboats International. It's a great magazine, loaded with mulitmillion dollar yachts and ads for them, as well as Rolls Royces and Rolexes. My "yachts" are both 35 years old, my car is a Dodge, and my watch is a Caravelle. If I didn't have my "yachts" and invested my boating money over the years, I guess I would be wealthy. But I can't do both, and I chose my old boats, my Dodge, and my Caravelle.

But I wonder how I got on this mailing list? I'm very flattered, but I'm afraid that one day I'll be found out somehow and a big black limousine will pull up in front of my house and the chauffeur will ring the bell. When I open the door, he will snootily demand the return of my Showboats International magazines, slap me twice across the face with his white driving gloves, and drive off in a huff.

LMAO!

It's raining about as hard as it can on this area of Penobscot Bay. I'm taking this leisure time to replace tracks, brackets etc. on a mizzen mast I stripped weeks ago. I'm using the forced time to seal all the fasteners with silicone.

The truth is, little weather has been missed this spring for sailing but that will change quickly. Summer is scheduled to return to the coast of Maine next week.

My boat is still on the hard and there is a hurricane in the gulf.

Dave,

I'm going sailing today! Sailing across the bay under jib alone to the boatyard to get my masthead sheeve repaired. Sky's pretty grey here at 8:00 A.M., but hopefully the fog will burn-off before we set sail.

Congrats on your Mistral being ready to go. I know it's been a long and frustrating experience. I lok forward to hearing about your firt sail of the season!

As for hangin out, i'm workin.

The hard part has been getting qualified workers to quote. There have been any number of guys that would fill and fair pretty quickly but, there is also a 8-12 foot long crack on the deck. That is structural so, I have been trying to get only good builders vice glass plasterers to quote.

Unfortunately, since Charley, there is one hell of a lot more work than good contractors and most are doing jobs with a quicker payoff.

It's a little windy and rainy here at the moment.

Actually we are gettingclose to violating Honour's Law.

You remember Honour's Law?

"Never go sailing when the wind speed and the temperature ar the same number."

It's about 70 degrees today.

And not too far offshore from us it's blowing -- about 70.

Shady Lady is all tied up at the moment.

well, here it is Sunday evening. I just returned from an atypical weekend on the boat. The wife and kids are gone visiting the in-laws. I left for the boat on Friday (it's an hour away from home), sailed all day on Saturday with some newbies, watched 'Life Aquatic' on the laptop out in the cockpit Saturday night, slept in then worked on the boat all day Sunday.

It was 'atypical' because usually we only sail...no work

Sorry to hear about those who couldn't get out.

Got a cold and its raining so decided to have some real fun and
went to the new threaded (just like the old CWBB) Crusing Sailors BB at

http://www.cs-bb.com/forums/CSBB/index.cgi/#12001

Where it is easy to follow a thread and avoid even looking at those with posters you know are going to waste your time....and you see their names in advance....before you click on a topic.....what a great idea....bye, bye Jaxie.
