We are planning a 4-5 month trip Virgin Is to Florida via Dom Rep, T&C and Bahamas, Dec 2007-April 2008. We have studied our Van Sandt but any additional information would be handy, if anyone has the time.
1) We plan on doing day hops mostly, which means stops at Mona Is, Punta Cana, Punta Macao, Escondida, Rio San Juan, Sousa. Very little has been published about these anchorages and we have only the chartlets from Van Sandt to go by. Any firsthand experiences? Info on approach, clearing draft, vulnerability to ENE wind and general hazards would be appreciated.
2) Any info on passagemaking? Normal sea state, or anything else we should know?
