Can you only reply to the original post in a line of posts? Is that what the hubbub is about versus threaded? So if someone posts sunthin in a reply you want to remark upon it ain't possible? Sign me uninformed.....

Each post in a thread gets placed after the last post. However, if you want to reply to something someone said up-thread, simply hit the quote button on their post and the software will include this cute little quote box in your post so that readers will know to whom or what you are referring. If you don't want to quote a large post, you can edit the quote in your post ala:

You could if there was reason, quote multiple posts or even quote Jules Verne, were it appropriate.

The hubbub I think is mostly resistance to change. When I first started using this style board, I was resistant to it too, but didn't have any choice as that was what those folks were using and I needed the info being presented. After six months of using both, I feel there are advantages and disadvantages to both and have no major preference either way.

The only way to reply to a post is to quote it, like this. Just hit the quote button on the post you want to reply to.

It's not as good as a threaded listing, but it's what we have.

A lot of boards are going to this format. It has as many strengths as it does weaknesses but as Dave said, it is what we have. One thing that is good about this format is that it is easier to search for a previous discussion on a topic.

Well said, Tim (note the 'nested' threads)

Jeff, you need to edit your signature pic entry so that it has a forward slash in the second img as in [/img]

BBC is on, mine was off, even though I turned it on in the post box.
