Can someone tell me what wind generators are being used in the cruising community?
I am interested in whats out there and what you think.
Thank you

The most common wind generator I've seenin the Caribbean is the AirX. I have one and have had no problems. It is self-regulated + sts when wind is too strong.
When going to bed, I often have a fantasy that sends me happily to sleep. In it I go off in my dinghy round the anchorage carrying a Remington pump-action shotgun. With it I blast into smithereeens every AirX Marine wind generator. 'BOOM' there's another one gone. 'BOOM' and another...
They are dreadfully noisy, and I hate them. They claim the new models are quiet, but obviously this claim is made by somebody who lives in a tent on the grass of an airport!
Some models are quiet, such as KISS, Aerogen. If you must have one, at least get a quiet one.
I have an Aerogen 6 and six solar panels. I regret spending the money on the Aerogen, and should have bought more solar panels instead.

I completely agree with arni in his evaluation of the Air-X! They do make good power once they get going (which takes a lot of wind), but they shriek like banshees! I actually scan an anchorage before dropping my hook to make sure I'm no near one. I personally have (and love) a KISS. Reliable, simple, relatively quiet and makes LOTS of power, even in relatively light air. I use mine to augment my two solar panels.
