In late Februrary or early March '08, I'll be helping a friend take his sailboat from Florida to the Bahamas. Depending on wind, weather and time constraints, I may jump ship in Bimini, maybe Nassau. My friend will be cruising the Bahamas with his wife until hurricane season, and I need to get back to Florida as soon as possible.

What would be the most inexpensive, convenient way to return to Florida. Unfortunately, I'm about 14 hours from Miami, so when he picks his weather window, I'm jumping in the car, will meet him somewhere south of Ft. Lauderdale. Due to the time constraints involved, I won't be able to reserve a flight sufficiently in advance to qualify for any real discounts. Any help?

Robert B;

Chalk's Airlines has departures from both Bimini and Nassau for Fort Lauderdale. Link: http://www.flychalks.com/

Good luck with your plans.

KaptainKen,
Thanks for the response. I was aware of Chalk's, but had mostly forgotten about them. Apparently, so has everyone else; the FAA pulled their flight certificate last year. Looks like they're out of business after 90 years. Any other options?
Robert

There is a small airline flies out of Bimini. I can't remember the name but their number is on the window of an office directly opposite the Immigration in Bimini. You can make a booking on the spot, sorry can't remember the name but I flew with them two months ago. They land at the Executive Airport in Forth Lauderdale which is a short taxi ride to the Tri Rail station.

Jolly Jack,
Could it be Island Air Charters?

I had just delivered a boat so was spaced out as usual... They were great, low key, efficient, no problem mon.
