My bow navigation lights are always getting full of water and failing.

Is it legal to make the lights removable, so I put them out on the bow only when I'm actually travelling at night ?

The navigation rules say "carry" and "show" and "exhibit" lights, but don't seem to say the lights have to be permanent.

Thanks,

Shouldn't be a problem, unless your state has some issue. Most states even allow mast head navagation lights. Offshore, the Coast Guard only require ID lighting at night - not how you make it happen.
