I live in Belize on a small tropical island called Thatch Caye. We get pretty constant cruiser traffic from the Moorings of Placencia as well as from Rio Dulce and I just wanted to say that we take care of all cruisers that come into our area. We have five moorings on the west side of our caye and we offer a great bar with nice rum drinks for all you modern day pirates out there! We also have ice, internet access, food, provisions, and do check in and check out services for immigration entering Belize from abroad by cruiser.
Please check me out personally for a tour of the island (caye here in Belize) or for mainland connections and tours. We have a 12 seater van and I am a licenced tour guide. We also have a dive master on site and can accomodate cruisers with divers who want to dive Glover's Reef, Turneffe, or the Blue Hole out at Lighthouse.
We have found that cruisers represent a "low-impact" way to see Belize and that ties in well with our eco-tourism philosophy. I am originally from the Virgin Islands and here is much like the BVI's were in the 1970's. Hopefully it will remain as laid back and beautiful in the future.
Anyone who needs any advice on Belize can reach me through this forum or through the Thatch Caye website.
