Two families would like to charter for a week in June of 2009. Total of 9 no children. Would like one boat with A/C and captain. We would do our own cooking etc. Have chartered several times before with Moorings and Voyage Charters. both wonderful experiences but since we will be picking up the tab on this one looking for something maybe a little more economical. Would appreciate any thoughts or suggestions anyone might have on charter companies to deal with. Can sail out of Tortola or St. Thomas doesn't really matter.
Thanks Wendy

You will not find a boat for 9 that is economical. Also at that time of year the selection of boats will be less as many will be stored or have left for hurricane season. A really fun idea is to have 2 smaller boats. You can race against each other and take turns having sundowners on each boat. You still meet up and anchor side by side but everyone is not climbing all over each other.

I agree with Doug & Wendy. You may find a cheaper deal with two smaller boats.

9 people plus a paid captain (who almost always gets their own cabin) is a very big boat. You might try working with one of the charter brokers to help find the best deal for you. I've never used one so I can't make a specific recommendation.
