Bahamas cell phones?

We will be cruising in the Bahamas this winter, mostly in George Town, and need to know what works or doesn't work for cell phones there. We want to be able to send and receive calls to and from the U.S.

Do you have any experience with cell phones in the Bahamas? Any sources of information?

I was in Nassau & Paradise Island Bahamas this past summer. I have Verizon wireless cell phone. No usage. My cell phone only worked in Puerto Rico & St. Thomas USVI.
Your best bet is to call your cell phone provider & see where they provide coverage. Each company provides coverage on different islands & on some islands you can buy a temporary boat phone number(British Virgin Islands definately) for your cell phone but that depends on your cell phone company.
