Im doing some dirty water sailing in about a month and I was curious if any of you have been to the cedar keys in northwest florida. Looks like really skinny water but I was curious to know if anyone knows of any good marinas in the area. If not a good place to shave and shower lol. Any serious suggestions "greatly" appreciated
There are no marinas you can get to with the draft of a sailboat. There is a marina at Cedar Cove and you will see masts there. When the tide is out the boats are almost 100% dry, stuck in many feet of chocolate pudding. This really is dirty and shallow. You would have to anchor out and keep an eye on the weather. Otherwise it is a really neat town to visit.
I live in Gainesville so I know the town well. We're experienced cruisers but we've spent all our sailing time around Cedar Key in Hobies and kayaks.
