Propane Bottles - Where can I buy?

I measured the cockpit locker space that is supposed to hold my propane bottle and found it to be 11.5" in diameter and 14.5" deep. I recently saw some propane bottles used with a backyard barbecue and they were 12" in diameter - obviously not going to fit my boat.

Where might I find a bottle that would fit my boat's locker?
