Add White Squall, Pirates of the Caribbean and Commander & Chief to your list.

A great sailing movie series is the A&E series Horatio Hornblower, there are eight movies in all. I ordered the series online after watching a couple on A&E. It is back in the day of square rigged ships but it is as good as it gets.

I think the best sailing movie is "Master and Commander" in terms of authenticity of the period and seamanship. It is set in Napoleonic times and there are lots of adventures and beautiful shots of places they sail to, like the Galapagos.
Patrick O'Brian is the author of a great series of books, and this movie is a combination of several of the books in the series ("Post Captain" and "Master and Commander" and "The Far Side of the World").
And it has the most brilliant music throughout the movie! (Mozart, Bach, Corelli, Boccherini)
A must see movie! Head and shoulders over anything in this genre, and it has no one standing on the spreaders in a storm at sea and no annoying little dogs.

Take a look at our other blog: www.getjealous.com/svmoose/
Duncan & Irene - Duncan is from Canada, Irene from Holland, but both of us consider Curacao our home country, since we have lived there for quite a while before we started cruising.
Moose is a steel cutter and has taken us so far for 35,000 miles almost around the world.
We have just arrived in Richards Bay, South Africa and we have decided to stay here for a year. We have visited a game park and it completely blew our minds away......

I prefer Master and Commander, followed by Captain Ron. Classic choices include, "Captain Blood" staring Errol Flynn and "The Crimson Pirate" staring Burt Lancaster.
