Fun in Chagos and Madagascar (Indian Ocean)
We have just spent 3 months in Chagos and another 3 months in Madagascar. We can recommend everybody to go there. Chagos is pristine: with no inhabitants you rely purely on yourself (and some other cruisers). The fishing is superb (and so are the dinners) and snorkeling between the black-tipped sharks needs a bit of courage.
Madagascar we were warned, is dangerous and people steal everything. it would be better in fact if we should bypass it......In three months time we have not had any problems, in fact, the people are very nice (if you stay away from the boat boys in Hellville).
It always surprises us how many people listen to bad stories....go for yourself and check it out! You'll be pleasantly surprised!
Fair winds, Moose (Duncan & Irene)
Duncan & Irene - Duncan is from Canada, Irene from Holland, but both of us consider Curacao our home country, since we have lived there for quite a while before we started cruising.
Moose is a steel cutter and has taken us so far for 35,000 miles almost around the world.
We have just arrived in Richards Bay, South Africa and we have decided to stay here for a year. We have visited a game park and it completely blew our minds away......
