Hi, my name is Peter and I'm new to entering such Forums, but in the obvious pursuit of trying to promote my new website, it may be of interest and hopefully entertainment for those considering cruising around Bass Strait and Tasmanian waters. We have our own owner built vessel and have sailed Bass Strait and Tassie ever since our boat was launched in 1995; in fact our first sail was from Port Phillip Bay straight down to Dover, off the D'Entrecasteaux Channel (below Hobart), which on reflection was pretty game or stupid of us I guess, considering we were putting all our faith in our own handicraft. She came up very sea worthy though albeit slow due to the "over building" we seemed to lavish on her, but we feel very safe in our "Leearcki" and she has gained a reputation of a go anywhere vessel. I have even been asked three times now whether she goes to Antartica, but this question could also be induced by the fact that Leearcki is painted almost exclusively all red. We know Tassie pretty well now and have been to most of her anchorages. We particularly know the North West coast line and probably as well as most professional fisherman (the only other boats we generally ever see there), but it's a great place to cruise and has a pristine scenery little touched by development. We have a series of 4 minute video previews which you can watch by going to www.yachtcruisingdvds.com. Hope you enjoy watching them.
