    Default Ports, fees, and travel

I don't have never had to pay ships cost because all of my ship time was on an aircraft carrier. If I just got up and left today on a sail boat to around the world, would I have to pay port fees? I understand if I mored I would have to pay fees but if I just anchored and to a small craft in do I have to pay? Just and FYI, I do not plan on just getting up and leaving. Just wonder this because people always say it is easy to travel the world if you have time, and a sail boat. I have neither but I do have curiosity for how people manage to see the world by sailing.

    Hello,
Yes, when you enter a foreign country, there are typically fees to pay, regardless if you are moored, anchored, docked, whatever. These fees and procedures vary greatly from country to country. Typically, when you enter a foreign port, you need to meet with customs, immigration, and sometimes a health officer, and possibly a port captain, and there can be fees each stop. When you're planning your trip, you should be able to find the info in cruising guides and/or online.
    Hope this helps!
