    Default portable 12volt fridges

anyone had experience with portable 12volt fridges such as edgestar 861 will it still operate when sailing heeled over? Any other general issues?

    Hi there-
I used something similar- an Engel fridge/freezer- for years including extended living and cruising in Florida, Bahamas, and Caribbean (read: hot), and we never had a problem. It was a great solution since we weren't in a position to install a traditional fridge in our Pearson Vanguard. With the Engel, we enjoyed cold drinks, cheese, and veggies the whole way

Thermoelectric fridges will operate at any angle. Unfortunately, these don't get very cold and are slow to recover. The 861 does have a compressor, so heeling could affect it. The manual says the limit is 30 degrees.
