Default how long does radar equipment last?

What is the average life expectancy of a Ray Marine radar? Mine is 11 years old and giving me some problems. I'm wondering if I should try to fix it or replace it. Thanks.

It doesn't take but a fraction of a second most of the time. There are different radar units and methods of using these units.

Mine is over 12 years old. I just revived it, this year, by replacing the cable from the radar to the display.

How long? Well aside from chance, how often you use the unit affects certain parts. Some items, like the rotor motor, have duration and number of cycles of on-off factors.

We've had Furuno equipment. We upgraded because of new features; and not because anything was wrong with the equipment.

Obviously if you have to spend 2/3rds of the cost of a new unit, you wouldn't spend that, you would upgrade. Of course there is the "death of a thousand cuts" ....

Since you will need a new cable and connections with your new unit if you decide to upgrade. I would replace the cable on your old unit and see if that fixes your problems first.
