    Default Cruising With Pets

Does anyone have any experience doing international cruising with pets?

I would be interested to know how pets handle life aboard, are there precautions to take on deck? I'm worried they will slide off when the water is rough?

We just did a foodie cruise with www.cruisingwiththechefs.com on Oceania and brought our dog. He is only 16lbs so and is small so he was easy to cart around. We took him off the boat for day trips and he loved it.

We live on our Jeanneau 42i in the Med. Part of our crew is a 1.5 year old Maltese/ Beshon named Bonaparte. He is a great sailor, but he has been aboard since he was 3 months old.
We do not have netting on the life lines. He has a harness and life jacket, but like us rarely wears it.
He loves the RIB best because it means going ashore. He does his buisness on the foredeck where it is easily washed off.
I believe it is best to have a small dog on a boat, Bonie weighs about 5kg. They take up less space, need less exercise and do small turds. Having a dog is great fun.
