Our organization (Sea Mercy) is looking to charter a sailboat in Tonga for 4-6 weeks, within the mid-June to mid-August of 2013 timeframe. We will be a group of 6-8 individuals and looking to stay primarily in the Ha'apai and Vava'u island groups.
Our organization will be doing 2-3 two week excursions (between re-supplies) as an exploratory mission to the more remote islands as a dry run for our 2014 full floating health care clinic program. Those traveling the vessel will be health care professionals from Tonga and the US. The primary purpose of the charter is to evaluate first hand what the health care needs are on each remote island, the health care staff and supplies that would be required to meet the ongoing needs of each remote island, and to deliver basic health care services (approved by the Health Ministry of Tonga) during our short visits to each remote island. In addition to the health care staff, we will need to carry medical supplies (very basic) that will allow us to treat any emergency needs we may encounter during our visits (treatment will take place on land, not on the vessel).
Our funds are currently not deep, so any assistance in keeping costs low would be greatly appreciated.
