These may be very basic questions but I need to ask them
I have to redo the splash board & bow sprite.
I have stripping materials; that won't be hard- not much left..
What do I do then??
Any special varnish?
I also have a lot of painting to do on the deck. There's many many old layers that need to come off.
Recommendations on that? (removal plus replacement paint)
Thanks for any help, I want to get this ole boat back to looking good, she deserves it

When it comes time to varnish, make sure you go with a product that has UV protection. Epiphanes and Interlux both offer products intended for the marine environment. You might also look into the new non-colored Cetol.
As for deck stripping and repainting. There's really no short cut to scraping and sanding, although if you want to get down to bare wood, you might think about a stripper. Interlux and Petit both make good topsides paint. I've worked with both Brightsides and EasyPoxy and found that both gave good results.
