When I was buying a boat in Florida 9 years ago, I saw several that could no longer get in and out of their home canals except at the monthly high-high tide. I think canals there are silting up and dredging is forbidden.
I found Florida to be much less tolerant of deep draft than the Bahamas. Bill

Assassin: Endeavour Yachts (now out of business) made cruising yachts in Clearwater, Florida for many years. Designed especially for the Bahamas charter trade they were all shoal draft. My Endeavour 37 ketch draws only 4 1/2 feet.
